Education Requirement:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of college education and related experience in instructional support may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional installation (typically 0 months to 1 year) using varied installation and technology concepts including but not limited to cable pulling, cable terminating and soldering, mounting, wire and rack management, mechanical fabrication, and use of hand and power tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with hand and basic power tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency with consumer electronics (computers, A/V systems, networking, etc)
  • Ability to routinely move and transport computer and audiovisual equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Driver's License and ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety requirements (see website for info) https://uiowa.edu/riskmanagement/vehicle-use
  • Ability to review and interpret schematic drawings for A/V installation
  • Ability to review bid proposals and project budgets for A/V system integrations
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including the ability to markup project documents, write and deliver clear instructions, and create work summaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a project team

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in terminating and testing Category 5e, 6, and 6a cables.
  • Experience in terminating, running, and testing prewire or retrofit low voltage cables (SDI, coaxial, speaker, and control cable).
  • Experience installing components of audiovisual architecture and infrastructure (mounting projectors and screens, installing LCD/LED screens, AV rack wiring, installing speakers).
  • Experience performing troubleshooting on large enterprise A/V systems
  • Proficiency with construction techniques and structured cabling
  • Knowledge of Extron, Crestron, or similar audiovisual equipment
  • Experience with computer networking and/or security
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze needs and determine appropriate requirements for installation of audiovisual architecture and infrastructure
