The University of Iowa is seeking a Classroom Computer & Technology Lead to help shape, manage, and continuously improve the technology experience in classrooms, meeting rooms, computer labs, and other learning spaces across campus.

This role will serve as a technical and service management lead for several, highly-visible technology services used every day by students, faculty, and staff. The Classroom Computer & Technology Lead will coordinate service operations, guide technology changes and refreshes, troubleshoot complex issues, analyze usage and support trends, and work across IT Service and other campus partners to make sure learning space technology is reliable, sustainable, and responsive to customer needs.

From managing computer and peripheral refreshes across approximately 350 university classrooms, to improving support processes, evaluating new technology, and coordinating changes across multiple IT teams, this position offers the opportunity to influence how technology is delivered at scale in a major research university environment.

Key Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Lead day-to-day service operations for classroom technologies, meeting room technologies, ITC computer labs, public computing environments, and other assigned learning spaces technology services.

  • Plan and coordinate technology changes and refreshes across hundreds of campus learning spaces.

  • Serve as an escalation point and technical expert for complex or widespread hardware, software, conferencing and technology-integration issues.

  • Analyze incidents, service requests, usage trends, and customer feedback to identify problems, recommend improvements, and guide technology decisions.

  • Partner with campus units, other IT Services teams, and vendors to evaluate solutions, coordinate changes, and ensure smooth service delivery.

This is a terrific role for someone who is comfortable moving between technical troubleshooting, planning, communication, documentation, and customer consultation. If you like taking ownership of a service rather than simply resolving individual tickets, enjoy figuring out why recurring problems are happening and how to prevent them, and can coordinate technical work across teams without direct supervision, we’d love to hear from you.

There is an expectation that the individual in this position will maintain effective, civil, and respectful working relationships with the University of Iowa campus community and uphold the University’s commitment to creating a welcoming and respectful environment for all.

This position has a project assignment of 2 years and is classified as a "specified term appointment" as a Senior IT Support Consultant (PIC3) with full fringe benefits.

This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.

This is a 100% onsite position.
