Education/Implementation Specialist
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
Iowa Health Care Department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an EHR Education/Implementation Specialist to provide EHR training to new end users, assist current users to optimize their EHR use and ensure that end users remain current on evolving functionality. Provide educational support and identify technical solutions, as needed. Key areas of responsibility include training (classroom/virtual/online); educational resource development; systems testing, and other duties as assigned.
- Learn a variety of course curricula to support classroom training.
- Develop and maintain resources, such as tip sheets, curriculum, exercise workbooks, videos/e Learnings and assessments.
- Coordinate and communicate with departments regarding existing class schedules, class registration processes, scheduling of special request classes and other training logistics considerations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assists with testing build for application software optimizations and upgrades in test environments and training environments.
- Assists with supporting end users who submit requests for Epic training support.
- Partners with lead instructors to define department processes, evaluate system functionality, identify modifications, and output needs. Verifies preliminary design and output to improve efficiencies and enhance patient safety.
- Assists with development of educational resources and/or assessment tools.
- Provides one-on-one training, group training or presentations.
- May present system upgrades to end users that impact workflow and application functionality.
- May create video training utilizing Captivate to enhance the end user educational experience.
- Assists clerical and clinical staff in the use of the EHR software.
- May act as a credentialed or principle Epic certified trainer for multiple applications.
- May assist with education and support components of projects.
- May provide mentoring for staff and leadership in a specific area of expertise.
- Builds and fosters relationships between IT partners and operational customers.
- May be required to work on multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously.
- May function as a liaison between the end users and IT staff.

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in education, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience (typically 1-3 years) in application and/or technology support.
- Experience developing curriculum and educational resources.
- Experience providing focused training in large and small group settings.
- Experience communicating technical information to non-technical customers.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Experience working independently with a strong focus on customer service.
Desired Qualifications
- Education credentials and adult classroom teaching.
- Working knowledge with Windows and Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with Audio/Visual editing software (Captivate, Camtasia).
- Clinical, patient access or revenue experience or previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of clinical, patient access or revenue workflows and processes to support patient care in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of the Epic EHR.
