Employee Labor Relations & I-9 Compliance Specialist
Education
or Equivalency Required
· A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
Management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience
Required
Qualifications:
· Experience (typically three years or more)
working effectively with complex employment and labor relations issues and working
on I-9 (or related) issues
· Demonstrate extensive knowledge and ability to:
o
apply and assure compliance with employment
laws, policies and collective bargaining agreements in administering all
aspects of HR policies and practices
o
apply and assure compliance with I-9
regulations and best practices
o
monitor compliance of HR policies, standards,
and procedures
o
effectively communicate, build relationships,
and work with a variety of individuals and groups, in a constructive and
collaborative manner
o
manage multiple concurrent objectives,
projects, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time
allocation
· A working knowledge and ability to:
o
implement confidential investigations and
resolution processes
o
Interpret and take action on the aspects of
employment laws that impact employee and labor relations
o
Interpret and apply immigration laws that
impact I-9 compliance
· Excellent verbal and written communication
skills
Desirable
Qualifications:
· Juris Doctor or Master’s degree in Business
Administration or related field.
· Working knowledge of University policies and
procedures pertaining to employment and immigration
· Working knowledge of relevant employment
policies, laws and best practices applicable to a public employer in Iowa.
· Working knowledge of I-9 Compliance Programs
and E-Verify
