The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Radiology is seeking a Research IT Support Analyst. To provide direct support, consultation, and guidance to physicians and research support staff requesting clinical images for research purposes.  Assist in training users and identifying technical solutions. Support daily operations and assist with technology planning to maximize user and organizational effectiveness.

Duties Include: 

  • Provide direct support, consultation and guidance to physicians and research support staff requesting clinical images for research purposes.
  • Manage the Radiology research system for clinical image requests for research purposes.
  • Monitor and review research requests for clinical images.
  • Support research related PACS projects
  • Assist end users across the enterprise with image viewing, processing orders from providers for external Radiology studies, and requests for Radiology studies from outside facilities.
  • Handle first level troubleshooting for Radiology research computer system issues.
  • Troubleshoot and answer questions related to the functionality and use of a variety of computer systems used in Radiology.
  • Assist in training Radiologists and Residents on using Radiology PACS, dictation system, and other computer systems. 

Supervision received:

  • General supervision is received from Radiology Systems Administrator

Supervision exercised:

  • Functional supervision may be exercised over support staff

Schedule: Monday to Friday; 0830-1700, with rotating holidays.

Education Required

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements

  • 6 months or more of related customer service experience in a health care setting.
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task and quickly change focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex situations with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in computer software applications (Excel, MS Word, OneNote).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations and suggestions to improve workflows.
  • Self-motivated with initiative to seek out additional responsibilities, tasks and projects.
  • Research Experience.
  • Technical Programming Experience.
  • EPIC Experience.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa Policies and Procedures.
