IT Support Consultant - Project Implementation
Iowa Health Care Department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking an IT Support Consultant. This position will provide client device (PC/Printer/Telephony) knowledge to various departments throughout UI Health Care, via meetings or walk-throughs. Clear oral and written communication is necessary. Will coordinate planning, ordering and installation of client technologies for projects of varied sizes. Position includes working with department contacts, Project Management groups, vendors, contractors, and end users regularly.
- Position Responsibilities:
- Analyzes, coordinates, configures, and installs project IT hardware.
- Answer questions from customers on HCIS standardized equipment.
- Develop the understanding of institutional knowledge to reflect the needs into project planning.
- Performs advanced analysis and problem resolution with device hardware and connectivity in new installations.
- Documents and shares findings with team members
- Ability to take self-study and vendor sponsored classes related to technical systems software and hardware.
- Development of a high-level understanding about hardware utilized in clinical workflows and also expected to communicate the needs to end users.
- Develops documentation for complex software/hardware installation processes.
- Documents and shares problem resolutions and best practices with team members.
- Maintains accurate inventory management records.
- Accurately documents work in the ticket tracking system.
- Maintains project documentation for tracking all phases of a project.
- Represents HCIS at project meetings to gather information on customer requirements. Investigates and addresses customer questions and concerns.
- Assist with the implementation of approved projects, providing project support and services.
- Manages small to large sized projects.

Salary: $49,511 to commensurate – 4A

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements
- Experience, typically 1-3 years, supporting workstations running Windows 10 and MS Office 365
- Experience in running IT related projects.
- Professional experience working with desktop hardware and software in a managed workstation environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to move and install personal computer equipment.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft OneNote
- Experience with Microsoft Teams
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Experience with wireless networking and security.
- Experience working in a Health Care IT environment.
- Experience utilizing ITIL frameworks.
