HPC Senior Systems Administrator
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Required Qualifications:
• Experience (typically 5-7 years) supporting a medium to large (250+ users or equivalent) heterogeneous environment of Linux/Unix systems administration and/or systems programming, including design and deployment
• Experience designing and supporting complex systems and ability to explain process, deliverables, and best practices for performance
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff
• Extensive experience in securing systems.
• Extensive experience in developing or managing programmatic solutions in a heterogeneous environment
• Extensive experience with scripting languages (such as bash, ruby, python).
• Extensive experience supporting open source software
• Ability to guide and effectively work with student employees
• Experience supporting technology in a research setting
Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience in designing and operating multi-user HPC systems (highly desirable)
• Experience writing puppet manifests/managing complex system deployments with puppet.
• Experience supporting High Speed Fabric technology (such as InfiniBand or Omnipath)
• Experience with accelerated computing hardware and software (such as Nvidia GPUs and CUDA) strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Linux provisioning frameworks (ex: Warewulf, Rocks, xCat)
• Knowledge of queueing systems and resource managers (such as SGE, Slurm, etc).
• Knowledge of data analytics and/or artificial intelligence workflows
• Experience with container technology (such as singularity, docker, etc)
• Experience with advanced filesystems (e.g. ZFS, GPFS, CEPH) or network attached storage
• Knowledge and experience with building and supporting scientific software on HPC systems.
