Senior Systems Administrator
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.
Required Qualifications:
• Typically, five or more years of relevant experience providing high-quality systems administration for modern server operating systems, including Windows, and related backend operations.
• Expert knowledge of Active Directory, IP networking, and centralized client management technologies.
• Ability to write and debug well documented, quality computer programs using common scripting languages including PowerShell.
• Ability to work independently in local and/or remote locations, prioritize multiple tasks, and participate in on-call rotation.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff.
• Ability to move (with or without reasonable accommodation), position, and install computer and research equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to varying heights, on a frequent basis.
• Ability to work in an environment containing hazardous chemicals and radioactive or biological agents and to wear personal protective equipment as required.
Desired Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of IaaS platforms such as Azure and AWS.
• Working knowledge of IT security best practices, firewalls, and encryption.
• Working knowledge of system and network monitoring and notification tools and/or scripts.
• Experience administering SQL and/or Oracle database environments.
• Knowledge and understanding of FDA and EU regulations, along with computer software validation principles.
• Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, IT services and standards.
