Web Development and Applications Manager
Required Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Required Qualifications
Considerable experience (typically 3-5 years) in web and application development, or website design, and building programmatic solutions in a secure environment
Proficiency with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and familiarity with relational database design using DBMS systems such as FileMaker, MS SQL Server or Access, Oracle, MySQL.
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools and all aspects of the lifecycle of a web application; estimating, wireframing, design, frontend and backend;
Ability to effectively communicate technical information, both orally and in writing, with other technical and non-technical staff, including peers, content providers, designers, workgroups, managers, and general customers
- Working knowledge of and ability to:
Work constructively and collaboratively in a diverse environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships,
Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, peers or managers, and general customers.
Desired Qualifications
Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program.
Familiarity working with Drupal 7/8, WordPress Platform and/or other Content Management Systems – Highly desirable
Knowledge of web analytics tools (ex. Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools, Site Search, etc.) - Highly desirable
Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization techniques and strategies - Highly desirable
Familiarity with web accessibility standards including WCAG 2.0 and WAI-ARIA;
Experience utilizing tools for creating and manipulating databases (MS SQL Management Studio, dbVisualizer, etc.)
- Proficiency with PHP Object Oriented Programming;
- Experience with Continuous Integration tools and processes;
- Experience leading teams and/or projects;
- Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures.
